Impact of the Japanese Reconstruction

While the havoc wreaked by the 2011 tsunami in Japan would leave many believing that the Japanese Yen would hit another cycle of depreciation, we think that the impact on the currency of this disaster would be mixed. As reconstruction is paid for by insurance companies, global assets would be redeemed and money would be remitted back to Japan, strengthening the currency.
